Dybala Nears Roma Departure as Boca Juniors Emerge as Top Destination

Paulo Dybala appears increasingly likely to leave Roma, amid the club’s tightened wage policy and the Argentine striker’s recurring injury issues. According to Matteo Moretto, Dybala and his representatives have been more active in discussions with Boca Juniors than with Roma.
The 29-year-old is entering the final months of his current contract. Roma have scaled back on high personal terms, particularly for veteran players, leaving Dybala as the squad’s top earner under an outdated deal. While the club may consider offering a reduced salary, negotiations have yet to begin; a renewal would require a €4-5M pay cut.
Meanwhile, Boca Juniors are actively pursuing the forward, aiming to replicate their previous approach with Leandro Paredes by bringing him back to Argentina. Dybala’s entourage is maintaining close contact with the Argentine side, and for now, a move abroad seems more probable than a stay in Rome.
Off the pitch, family considerations may also influence his decision. Dybala and his wife, Oriana, are expecting a child, and she recently expressed disappointment that their baby would be born in Italy rather than near her family in Argentina (Resumido via Fanpage).
The relationship between Dybala and Roma has also cooled, with the team performing effectively during his absences. It mirrors past experiences at Juventus, where departures happened without a final contract renewal. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini may prefer a younger, more dynamic squad, but retaining one senior presence, such as Dybala or Lorenzo Pellegrini, could help provide leadership and continuity without heavy summer recruitment.
