Inter’s Champions League campaign came to a dismal end as Bodø/Glimt completed a stunning play-off upset, winning 2-1 at San Siro to seal a commanding 5-2 aggregate triumph.
Already trailing 3-1 from the first leg in Norway — a match that also saw captain Lautaro Martínez suffer a muscle injury — the Italian side dominated early chances but failed to find a breakthrough. Federico Dimarco and Francesco Pio Esposito both went close, while Marcus Thuram saw a curling effort narrowly deflected wide.
Despite Inter’s pressure, the visitors struck first after the break. A defensive error allowed Jens Petter Hauge to convert from close range, silencing the home crowd and leaving the hosts needing an unlikely comeback.
Bodø/Glimt effectively ended the contest midway through the second half when Håkon Evjen controlled a cross and drilled a precise finish into the far corner to stretch the aggregate lead further.
Inter did manage a late response when Alessandro Bastoni forced the ball over the line from a corner, but it proved little more than consolation. The return of Denzel Dumfries from injury for a brief cameo could not change the outcome.
For Inter, it marked a premature European exit and a night to forget at San Siro, while the Norwegian champions celebrated one of the biggest victories in their history to reach the next stage.
